Ep30 - with Ryan Murphy

13-05-2020

Ryan Murphy is an exceptionally talented arborist in both the work and competition arenas. Ryan is probably the most efficient, safest and most calculated arborist I have ever met and had the pleasure to work with.

Ryan gives us his background of how he was introduced to the industry and getting his start in Buchart gardens. He talks about his mentor Rupert Evans and the training and instruction he was given as a rookie.

Ryan recaps the various moves he made throughout his career and what led him to where he is now in his contract climbing role. Ryan has been part of some fascinating jobs including work at Cathedral grove on Vancouver Island which meant climbing huge, hazardous old growth tree for safe removal. Ryan also discusses a recent close call and what lead up to the incident happening.
